Computer Assisted Analysis Techniques and Solutions (CAATS) serves to educate auditors and finance professionals in the effective use of data analytics through articles, publications, books, presentations and training.
David Coderre has devoted his almost three decade professional career to data analytics and reporting with a special focus on audit and fraud detection. His goal is to help you maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of your audit function while providing a high-level of audit assurance.
CAATS provides a variety of services and products primarily aimed at internal auditors. The company offers educational materials (books and training courses) as well as consulting services. We also offer all levels of ACL training at highly competitive rates. ACL training is in-house and either customized to your needs or specialized consultative training - where students develop scripts and applications to address their specific analytic challenges.
Mr. Coderre, President of CAATS, has personally built thousands of ACL scripts and delivered hundreds of ACL training sessions. He has received awards for his work in analytics including the ACL Impact Award (2014) and the IIA "Contribution to the Profession of Internal Auditing" award (2010).
Mr. Coderre, President of CAATS, has more than twenty-eight years of experience in the informatics field in a variety of settings. During this time he has worked with mainframe, minicomputer and microcomputer systems in the university environment, the private sector and the federal government sector. He has an MBA from the University of Toronto, with a major in the Management of Information Systems.
Mr. Coderre has taught university courses in accounting information systems and data analytics to prevent and detect fraud. He has also responded to the requirements of hundreds audits conducted by working with audit teams to develop audit scope and objectives and by managing a section which negotiated access to client IT systems. He has developed innovative approaches to addressing audit lines of inquiry and data analysis techniques to support fraud investigations. He has also supported the ongoing analysis of information both on the mainframe and microcomputer platforms. Previous audits include:
- an inventory audit for which he conducted the analysis, identified more than $100M in obsolete inventory;
- the audit of an accounts payable function which identified close to $5M in inefficiencies and more than $1M in duplicate payments; and
- a purchasing audit which identified hundreds of thousands of dollars of fraudulent transactions.

Mr. Coderre has given numerous presentations on "Data Analytics" and is a recognized expert in the area of the development and use of Computer-Assisted Audit Tools and Techniques (CAATTs). Mr. Coderre has given presentations to internal auditors from the governments of United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Norway, Germany, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan, Mexico, Venezuela, and Malaysia. In addition, he has presented at many international conferences and delivered courses and special sessions.
